This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Liz Sisson, one of my favorite upperclassmen. Her contributions to Bentley will far outlast her time here, and she is someone whom I’m incredibly proud to call a peer.

Name: Liz Sisson
Hometown: Plainville, CT
Graduation Year: 2012
Major: Marketing
Minor: Computer Information Systems
Campus Involvements: President of the Senior Class Cabinet, First Year Seminar Peer facilitator, Women’s Leadership Floor mentor, PRIDE (Former Executive Board member), Bentley Marketing Association (Former Co-president and Executive Board member)

HC: How do you keep your academic, extracurricular, and social life balanced?

LS: It’s really a matter of time management and prioritization, as clichĂ© as that sounds. I lay out my days in my calendar, and I’m always aware of when I’ll have a busy day or some down time. I honestly plan everything down to my nap time around that Outlook calendar. With that, the more I have on my plate, the better I tend to do academically. An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion.

HC: What did you wish you knew when you were a freshman?

LS: Embrace the unknown. I think the ‘unidentified’ is so intimidating to people in today’s society, especially students who are driven and are always used to ‘knowing what they want to do.’ Because of that fear, I think people tend to settle. Be proactive with the unknown- join an organization you don’t know anything about, take a class with a subject matter that you wouldn’t normally take, talk to someone outside your traditional group of friends. There’s a lot to be learned in these short four years of college that you won’t necessarily study in a textbook, you just need to find out what those things are.

HC: What Bentley experience stands out as the most significant to you?

LS: Joining PRIDE. I have literally gotten to know some of the best people on this campus (in my opinion) in that Res Life room above Campus Police (on Wednesdays at 8pm
.) It took me a bit to realize it, but joining PRIDE has been a life changing experience for me. It’s helped me discover so much about myself, and about others who support such organizations, that I’ll be forever grateful for.

HC: What are you planning to do after graduation?

LS: The dreaded senior question, what do I want to do after graduation? At our Senior meeting the other day, we were told “do something you love, not something you’re necessarily good at” and I know that’s what I’ll do after graduation
something that makes me happy, I’m just not 100% sure what that will be. Check back in a couple of months!

Liz has recently been nominated for the “Most Famous Student in Boston” by Bostinnovation. (Vote for her here!) She is certainly famous here on campus, and is known by freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors alike. I, along with the HC Bentley staff, would like to wish Liz all the best in her senior year and future endeavors!
