Last week, the premieres of fall shows aired, with changes and all, but some are doing better than others. After the Charlie Sheen debacle last spring, the executives at Two and a Half Men kept the show, but have added in Ashton Kutcher as the new main character. Airing with the highest ratings of the first Monday of the season of fall shows, it’s gone in a new direction without Sheen. Unlike the original idea, Kutcher’s character is nothing like Sheen’s old character (a womanizing jerk with an alcohol problem), but rather a man-child who is desperately in love with a woman who wants a divorce. Kutcher himself is already having problems with the tabloids, apparently cheating on Demi Moore after a night of partying, in addition to advertising internet companies he’s invested in on the show, which CBS didn’t know about or endorse.

How I Met Your Mother is also back for its 7th season, bringing back old characters and spinning things once again. Even though it’s one of those sitcoms that you can understand even from a random episode, the show tends to waver between being funny and being serious due to the way the plot is set up (every episode is a story which the main character is telling his kids, leading to how he met their mother). However, you can’t go wrong with NPH, so it got decent reviews as well.
Glee has finally gone back to being good, and stopped with the flashy unnecessary plot twists with terrible song renditions like past seasons. It’s still weirdly dramatic and the teachers are just a little too interspersed into the lives of the students to be comfortable. But new shows are on the rise! The New girl with Zooey Deschanel (sister of Emily Deschanel from Bones) was a hit with over 8 million viewers, and absolutely hysterical.
Never fear though, because Jersey Shore continues its summer season through the beginning of the fall, and it is as stupid as ever (which, for you nay-sayers, is why anyone watches that show in the first place) – taking place in Italy. It just doesn’t get old watching 6 Italians, one Spaniard and one Chilean head to Italy to get drunk, arrested, make hundreds of thousands of dollars working at a pizza place, and slaughtering the Italian language. All in all, it should be a good season for television. Oldies are back, new shows are in and actually good, and we can watch and see what crazy train wreck Two and Half Men and Jersey Shore will bring.
