Shopping in Evanston isn’t exactly abundant, but it’s not non-existant! We put together a list of some of the wonderful options we do have in our neighborhood.
American Apparel
Located on Church St. (right across from Urban Outfitters), American Apparel is a great place to shop when looking for basics. They have everything from leggings to hoodies, which can be very useful when layering for the fall/winter weather. Although their stock emits more of a retro feel— on their website they have a section for vintage clothing— it also keeps up with the trends, carrying some unique pieces such as bodysuits and Harem trousers. Their items can be slightly expensive, but if you’re willing to splurge the quality is well worth it.

Urban Outfitters
Sitting on Church St., across from American Apparel, Urban Outfitters is surely one of the most popular stores in Evanston and among many at Northwestern. With one level each for men and women and plenty to choose from, everyone is sure to find something they like. Aside from clothing, Urban Outfitters sells cute and original dorm décor as well as shoes, handbags and unique jewelry. While items run pretty pricey, there are often great deals such as two-for twenty tees. The clothes found there have a vintage and edgy feel, for the girl who enjoys experimenting with her style.

Hot Mama
A store on Sherman Avenue that aspires to help mothers look their best, Hot Mama is in actuality not just for moms. With classy, more adult clothing, students can stop by when looking for something to wear for a formal event or job interview. Most pieces are a bit mature for college students but with some time to sift through everything, you can surely find something more your style. Unfortunately, most of these items can be on the pricey side, with some sweaters reaching the hundred-dollar range.

A recycled clothing store on Sherman Ave., Crossroads is a great place for some cheap, unique finds. This store buys, sells, and trades many great pieces from well-known brands including J. Crew, Marc Jacobs, American Eagle, and Forever21. If you look hard enough you can even find some rare items, such as a pair of Frye boots for only sixty dollars!
