Already mastered the first date (our advice here), and need to keep up the creativity to impress that special someone? Luckily for you, Dates by Natalie will be bringing you a new date idea on or near campus each week!

Date Idea #1: Picnic on the Beach

Fall has begun, but we TWAMPs aren’t quite ready to say goodbye to summer. This week may be your last chance to show off your summer bikini body, dip your toes in the water, and enjoy a cute afternoon date at the beach, so take advantage of it!

Date location: Jamestown Beach, 2205 Jamestown Road (open from 8 a.m. until sunset). You’ll need a car to get there, but this small beach is only 6 miles from campus. Recently restored, the beach provides a beautiful view and ample space to lie out a towel.

What to bring:

  • Sunblock!
  • A towel
  • A cute bikini
  • A blanket. It may be 70 degrees outside during the day, but you may need a blanket to keep warm once the sun starts to set (besides, what better excuse to cuddle up to your Campus Cutie?)
  • A picnic basket: Before the date, pack your picnic basket with water bottles, napkins, and some delicious sandwiches from the Cheese Shop! Just make sure you check with your date about their diet before ordering – unexpected allergy attacks are kind of a mood killer!
  • A pail and shovel (if you have them) so you can take a break from swimming to challenge your date to a sand castle-building contest.

Cost: $ (Scale = $ – $$$)
