Since it’s his first year playing for a “BIG 10” University, HCIU had “BIG 10” questions for freshman football player, Jordan Jackson.
Name: Jordan Jackson
Hometown: Trafalgar, Indiana
Year: Freshman
Position: Receiver #29
1. What is it like to be a freshman on the football team?
“Let’s just say that it is a new experience all together and it kind of opened up my eyes to the real world to know that I need to work my way up.”
2. How do you feel about the overall skill of the team this season? How is the team doing?
“The team is coming together really well, but we are still getting a feel for everything. Our wins versus losses may not show it though.”
3. How do you manage to balance being a student-athlete?
“It is really hard, but they give us resources such as the academic center. Also, all of the teachers are really understanding.”
4. Have you had to make any sacrifices – academically or socially – to be on the team?
“Yes to both. Football takes up so much time, but we gain social and academic aspects that we are losing in other ways. We have a lot of team meetings, and we are always bonding with each other.”
5. What is your favorite part of being on the team?
“The guys are all cool and just the whole experience in general.”
6. Who are your biggest role models?
“My coaches and the players.”
7. Do you have any goals for yourself for your future on the team?
“Everybody’s goal should be to go in the NFL.”
8. Why did you choose IU to play football?
“Playing for IU has been my dream forever. Also, I fell in love with Indiana’s campus and great academic programs. Also its close to home.”
9. Favorite football memories?
“High school football experience and coming here for football.”
10.What is it like to go from high school to college football?
“I was a big deal in high school, definitely a big fish in a small pond. Now, I have to start over. Just like freshman year of high school, I have to work my way up and prove my ranks.”
