Penn State Sex Column Creates Controversy Online

The first sex column ever published in Penn State’s The Daily Collegian  is whipping up a viral controversy. In her debut column, Mounting Nittany, penned by Kristina Helfer, she conveyed just how much she loves talking about (and having) sex-and urged others to openly discuss the topic too.

“Sex happens in college,” she wrote. “And it’s ok to talk about it.”

The morning after (no pun intended) her column was posted to the paper’s online medium, it had received over 300 comments either applauding her boldness or condemning the vulgarity of the article. A Twitter hashtag #mountingnittany fueled the online response to the column.
