Good afternoon, my lovely collegiettes!
…Or should I say good morning…? How is that midterms are here already and I still haven’t grasped the time difference? This week, I don’t have my usual tales of German beer chants, rouge train schedules, or wild discoteccas to catch you up on, unfortunately, but I can tell you this…midterm preparation abroad is just as strenuous as it is back in the States. I am up to my ears in scribbled Italian notes, & the distraction of living in such an amazing city is not exactly helping my cause. Per esempio, last night Kristen & I journeyed over to Via Mafia, a street where some of our friends live, planning to shoot the breeze for an hour or so and then get back to hitting the books.
…Cue us walking home at midnight, five hours later, woefully shaking our heads, and chiding ourselves for being such damn procrastinators. But who are we to turn down white wine & freshly-plucked tomato-basil pasta? It’s technically cultural…right?
And who can actually study with views like this practically in your backyard?
Anyways. The point is, I am struggling to attack my midterms with even a quarter of my usual “Work-Forest” tenacity. Any of you collegiettes feeling me on that one? Advice? Tips? Ways to suddenly acquiecese a photographic memory?
On the bright side, the coolest grandparents ever (i.e. mine) are in Florence this week to visit!
I mean it, guys. Coolest. Ever. My grandma has a Twitter. And just look at that Tux! Swag for days.
I am so looking forward to a relaxing week of delicious dinners that Kristen & I didn’t throw together in our Medieval-era kitchen & wine that we aren’t drinking out of a box (yes they have that here…yes it’s awesome. Think Franzia juice boxes.)
Plus, I get to show them the city from a local perspective!
Oh c’mon, you guys didn’t buy that, did you? I am fully anticipating dragging Kristen along on every single one of our ventures this week. I need her. Not only am I physically unable to navigate the city AT ALL, but I also cannot communicate with the locals! I’m basically flying blind out there. I’m sure my grandparents will be thrilled to learn that their eldest granddaughter’s only solo excurcions in Florence are within the 50 foot radius around her apartment. Can’t risk stepping out my front door and never being able to get home!
…On that note, collegiettes, I think I had better leave you to go prepare for my twenty minute oral Italian exam. I am sure that will go over swimmingly.
Until next week!
