Giuliana Rancic Announces Breast Cancer

Giuliana Rancic, popular E! television show host, announced on Monday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Rancic said that while undergoing another round of in vitro fertilization her doctor suggested she first get a mammogram before they move forward with the treatment. Rancic, 37, originally wasn’t planning on having her first mammogram until she turned 40, but followed her doctor’s advice. After catching the cancer early she said the prognosis is good.

Rancic will undergo surgery later this week and then chemotherapy. She and her husband still have plans to have a baby after her treatment. “I still want this baby … because this baby has saved my life,” she said. “I truly feel God was looking out after me … If I had gotten pregnant later down the line, I could have been a lot sicker.” Her doctor explained that if she had gotten pregnant from the IVF treatment the hormones could make the cancer accelerate at a much faster pace.

Celebrities took to Twitter to send hopeful messages to Rancic, with everyone from Lea Michele, Khloe Kardashian, and Bethenny Frankel tweeting well wishes.

Her Campus sends out thoughts and prayers to Giuliana! Get well soon!
