Stop and Smell the… Leaves?

Do you often find yourself looking forward to the next big holiday? As college
students, we are constantly dreaming about the next time we can forget about tests,
projects, and stress to spend a few days with our closest family or friends. What we
often forget throughout the semester is that the magic of the seasons can be seen
right before our eyes. Here a few tricks from an experienced Gopher on how to enjoy
the autumn season right here on campus.

1. Grab a piping hot seasonal drink. The best part of fall? The bold flavors!
Stop at Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte, or check out the Purple Onion’s
Oregon Chai Latte. Once you have your seasonal beverage in hand, sip slowly
and enjoy the flavors. Chances are you’ll feel the charm of the season with
every sip.

2. Take a long walk on campus. It may be difficult to miss all the beautiful
trees around campus, but taking the time to stroll around campus with no
purpose does wonders for a bad mood or stress. Bonus: bring a camera or
use a Smartphone picture filter (like Instagram) to capture the bold colors!

3. Rent a scary movie. With temperatures starting to drop, a night indoors
with a spooky movie sounds like the perfect way to celebrate the Halloween
season. Tip: Check out the Dinkytown McDonald’s Redbox for $1 over-night
rentals.

4. Buy seasonal produce. Stock up on fresh seasonal produce to get the most
out of autumn flavors! Too busy to cook? Buy a few pumpkins and gourds
and make your own creative seasonal centerpiece at home.

5. Incorporate fall colors into your style. Let the colors of the campus inspire
what you choose to wear to class. Emerald-green, mustard-yellow, and
camel-brown are easy fall colors to incorporate in a scarf, piece of jewelry, or
a pair of boots.

There you have it, ladies! Five fun, easy, and inexpensive ways to get the most out of
autumn on campus.
