Girls of all ages got a chance this weekend to see a woman who speaks to them about issues of boys, relationships and heartbreak: Taylor Swift.
Country superstar Swift made two stops in Oklahoma in the past month on her Speak Now world tour.
Swift visited the Bank of Oklahoma Center in Tulsa on Sept. 21 and performed at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City Saturday night.
Swift is well-known for her three multiplatinum albums, “Taylor Swift,” “Fearless” and her latest, “Speak Now.” She is notorious for selling out huge venues in seconds, including Madison Square Garden in New York City. In the past month, Oklahoma has had two chances to see this superstar.
Swift opened her show in Oklahoma City with her latest single from “Speak Now,” “Sparks Fly.” She sang almost every song from her most recent album, including favorites “Mine,” “Back to December,” “Mean” and “The Story of Us.” She also sang hit singles from her 2008 album “Fearless,” including the title track, “Fifteen” and the hit song “Love Story,” with which she closed the show.
At only 21 years old, Swift has already accomplished what many musicians hope to in a lifetime. With three multiplatinum albums, more than 10 singles that have hit number one on the Billboard charts and millions of fans worldwide, Swift is a voice of our generation. The realness and easy ability to relate is what many love about her music. Swift’s Oklahoma City show sold out in minutes and brought in audience members of all ages, from 8-year-old girls to college students to adults. Still an icon in the country and pop music worlds, Swift shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
