This week, I was asked on a date to the Caf… no, no, no, boys! If you’re still searching for date inspiration, you sometimes have to look off-campus. Now is the perfect time for an outdoor date to take advantage of the beautiful autumn season! Besides the low cost and the fun, a date at the pumpkin patch also provides the perfect lead-in to a follow-up date. If everything goes well, you can invite that Campus Cutie to help you decorate your pumpkin for the holiday. Painting or carving a pumpkin together will give you the opportunity to show off your creativity and get to know each other!
Date location: One of the nearest orchards (though not the only!) at which you can pick your own autumn goodies is Bush Neck Farm. Located at 1502 Bush Neck Road, Bush Neck Farm allows visitors to pick their own apples, blueberries, corn, peaches, and, best of all, pumpkins! Just make sure to call ahead first (757 258-0114) to make sure their pumpkin patch is available. Plus, they’ll let you know if an elementary school tour is scheduled. Nothing puts a damper on the romantic mood like herds of rambunctious eight-year-olds throwing peaches at each other.
Best for: A second date or third date
What to bring:
- A cute scarf is always a must
- A camera to capture some moments in front of the fall foliage
Cost: $5 – $15
