A True New England Tradition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

Living in New England has its definite drawbacks.

Our winters are ferocious, our Sox fans are intimidating, our accent is impossible to understand, our schools are ridiculously expensive, we consume FAR too much Dunkin Donuts & our public transit system needs an intense upgrade.

But, even despite all of these not so lovely things, New England shines during the Fall season.

Taking advantage of last weekend’s Northeastern Parents’ Weekend, I ventured out of the city with my mom (and roommate and boyfriend) for one of the most treasured New England traditions – apple picking!

Highland Farm and orchard proved to be the perfect spot for Fall festivities. Arriving just before four, we took to the trees and started picking to our hearts’ content. The multiple varieties of apples (Red Delicious, Fuji, Golden Crisp, Pink Lady *my fav!*and others) we were in no short supply of the delicious crisp fruit.

If you get a chance, visit the Farm (even after Halloween) for a fabulous day outside the city for a real New England Fall.

Here are a few pictures from our day !

Just a few of the bunch we took home

Picked out three little ones for the apartment

I was going for a Snow White kinda pose

Yum!

The apples got heavy after a while!

Stopping to pose for obligatory cute photos
