Everyone has seen a person walking down the street that has such an effortless, cool style, you just
want to run up to them and ask them were they got their clothes. Well here are a few inside secrets: #1
It probably took longer than you think to put together that outfit, and #2 they know how to find great
stores and deals around the University. Having these laidback, cook chicks (and guys) for my inspiration Iresearched a few great stores that is sure to turn some heads when you walk down the street!

First, everyone being a Golden Gopher needs some great Minnesota gear. Dinkytown is the place to
be for all your Gopher apparel. The store of my choice is Gold Country Campus Apparel; it is on the
corner of 400 14th Ave SE, right across from Potbelly. In this store you can find the signature maroon
and gold striped overhauls, which you can top off with a Beat Wisconsin button, or basically any other
type of Gopher gear you are looking for. When you first walk in you are going to see all the men’s
apparel along with some basic Minnesota cotton t-shirts; then if you go upstairs you will walk into the
women’s apparel, which also has hoodies, along with some cuter Gopher t-shirts, zip-ups, and pants to
choose from. Make sure to check the tags for colored stickers because that means those clothes are on
sale, which they tend to be pretty good deals. I have to admit, however that some of the clothes not
stickered can cost you a pretty penny (I would say the prices are similar to Coffman’s prices), but trust
the deals you can find at Gold Country are some of the best around.

If you are looking to ditch the Gopher gear and slip into something a little more fun and flirty (or for the guys, cool and manly) then the areas of my choice are Uptown and Downtown Minneapolis. Uptown has the great stores like Urban Outfitters and Victora’s Secret, but who hasn’t been in one of those store, (but if you really haven’t please try them out). If you are looking for some fresh looks then sit backand enjoy this free guide. First, it is about a 30 minute ride from dinkytown to uptown, however, you will have to look up bus routes for you specific time and pick-up. The store Heartbreakers is a personal favorite and if you are looking for that “oh-I-just-threw-something-on-and-it-looks-fabulous” look then Heartbreakers is perfect store. There are two floors to the store in uptown. The first floor is where you are going to find the trendy clothes with jackets, blazers, and tops. Then, when you go downstairs there is an American Apparel feel (accept far less expensive) along with a wall of shoes. Their pricing is similar to that of Forever 21, which is a great price range for us low-income students.

This brings me to my last helpful hint in clothes hunting in Minneapolis, Ragstock. This store is widely
accessible having stores in uptown, downtown, and Rosedale. Personally, I have had great success
with this store in many of my party clothes endeavors. Around this time of year there is a selection of
somewhat scandalous Halloween costumes, along with more modest costumes if “bra-and-underwear”
like outfits is not your style in October. For the more creative persons there are also plenty of clothes
available to have a homemade costume. Also, Ragstock is always a great way to find a sweater for
the inevitable “ugly sweater” party (and we all know that after you will wear that ugly sweater again, and proceed to get compliments on it). Ragstock’s other best kept secret is boys hoodies and zip-
ups. They are the most comfortable sweatshirts and they only get more amazing every time you wash
them. Pricing is extremely affordable for students with t-shirts being between $6-8 and sweaters more
towards $12-14 range.

Now that a few shopping secrets of Minneapolis have been reveled it’s time to dig through those clothes
piles and find those deal! Enjoy shoppers!
