Anthony Ciccone, who has reportedly been homeless for the past year and a half, spoke out against the family-including his sister, Madonna-that he claims abandoned him.Â
Ciccone was interviewed by The Michigan Messenger for an article about the difficult lives of Michigan’s homeless population.
When asked about how he wound up on the streets, Ciccone didn’t sugarcoat his side of the story, revealing that his family “turned their back on me, basically, when I was having a hard time.” He then asked the journalist, “You think I haven’t answered this kind of question a bazillion times — why my sister is a multibazillionarie, and I’m homeless on the street?”
Ciccone went on to explain that he had been working at the family Winery in Sutton’s Bay but was fired and now works whenever he can find an odd job, mainly surviving by collecting recyclables. Although there are churches in the area that welcome Michigan’s homeless population at night and provide them with hot meals, the cold weather can be brutal in the daytime and Ciccone has suffered from frostbite on more than one occasion.Â
Despite the hardships he has undergone Ciccone says he doesn’t want any help from his successful little sister. Just yesterday he told The New York Post that “I’m not looking to get a free hand-out because of my sister. I’m not looking for any publicity. If you’re here to get me to tell stories about my sister, that’s not who I am.”
