Don’t waste precious homework time looking for great Jewelry because the Jewelry has come to you!

Mia Boldson was recently spotted in the Keefe Campus Center with an amazing collection of vintage jewelry.  I couldn’t help but stop on my way to my mailbox and spend a good few minutes (half hour) checking out her never-ending supply of items.  As I spoke to Mia, I was taken aback by her history of experience in the world of vintage.  Here are her responses to a couple of questions I had for her:

How long have you been a vendor:
I owned and ran a vintage clothing store for 20 years and I have now been selling jewelry for 6 years.

How do you choose what items you would like to sell:
Well, I pick out the items that I know will sell at a specific college.  For instance, I’ve realized Amherst girls typically wear small and classic pieces—especially the small pendent necklaces.  So, I try and reflect this knowledge in the items I bring to Amherst.  However, some of the schools I visit have a funkier collegiate style; so, I pick out funky things for the funkier, hipster schools.

Overall, Mia has great options for all types of college girls…and even some options for college guys. She has sold jewelry at many schools including Amherst, Smith, Holyoke and Wellesley, which has been her single largest consumer up until recently.  Mia’s last comment was: “Most of my customers tell me they typically don’t purchase from vendors, and yet they still buy from me.”  This is no surprise given that her great range of options is also reflected in her range of prices.  We know vintage can be slightly pricey, however, she typically has options that many of us tuition-paying students can afford: $10-$50.

So hit up Keefe the next time Mia will be in town.  To inquire about when she will be in Keefe or if you want to invite her to your school, email her at stockkeepercostumes@gmail.com
