The Youtube beauty community is one of the best ways for students to find out about new products and trends in the beauty world. It is cheap, accessible, and the beauty gurus are people just like us. Some are in university, most have crazy, hectic lives, and many of them are subject to the same financial constraints that we are. Which means they enjoy a deal just as much as we do.
One of my favourite Canadian beauty gurus is Ashley from AshleysBeautyCorner. Last month she introduced a company named Loose Button that offers a subscription service where customers can get a box of deluxe sized beauty samples shipped to them once a month. The Luxe Box contains four to five deluxe sized samples from companies such as Stila, Shu Uemura, Bobbi Brown, NARS, and my personal favourite, Benefit. Customers fill out a beauty profile that the beauty experts over at Loose Button use to help pick out products that meet your personal needs. The box itself is cute, simple, and stylish and comes with a personalized note from the company and is sealed with a sticker that says “Made for… (your name here) which gives it a personalized feel that endears you to the company.

This month Her Campus U of T was lucky enough to try out the Luxe Box for ourselves! Here’s a look at what we got in our box:
Moroccan Oil’s Oil Treatment for Fine and Light Coloured Hair
Moroccan Oil is probably one of the most well known hair companies in the world. Its oil treatment is said to work wonders and has been featured in pretty much every magazine imaginable. But at $40 for 100 mL, the price has always stopped me from trying it out for myself. The Luxe Box gave me the opportunity to finally try it out, and while it wasn’t the right treatment for my thick, dark brown hair, I couldn’t resist trying it out and my hair was noticeably shinier so I can only imagine what it would actually do for people who have light and fine hair!

Calvin Klein Euphoria Fragrance and Lotion
Â
Calvin Klein Euphoria is described as a mix of “exotic fruits, rich black orchid, and sensual woods” and is the perfect scent for date nights or nights out with the girls. The scent is rather strong for my taste and it also lasts for a long time, so all you need is a little dab of the cream or spritz of the perfume and you’re set for the night! Â
Pur Minerals Neutral Foundation Primer
Â
One of the things that most collegiettes™ forget is primer, especially when they’re in a hurry. But eye shadow and foundation primers can help your makeup stay put and enhance the look of the product itself. Pur Minerals Foundation Primer does both amazingly. You can barely feel it but it makes your skin feel amazingly soft and it does its job well.
Â
ProX Eye Restoration Complex
Â
As exams and midterms pile up, dark circles are going to happen. It’s just a fact of life and mine are particularly bad. So when I saw this product I was particularly excited because even though like most 19 year olds I don’t quite have crow’s feet, the ProX Eye Restoration Complex also promises to reduce puffiness and dark circles. I tried this out after a long night of studying and while I did notice a difference it only lasted a few hours- but then again, that may have been my fault for not sleeping more! Â
Â
Lise Watier Flash Life Radiance Vials
Â
One of the best things about the Luxe Box is that sometimes you get to try out products before the general public does. Lise Watier’s Flash Life Radiance Vial is one of those products. It promises a lifting effect and can be applied before your day cream or over your makeup to add a little bit of brightness to your face.
Â
While the products are amazing, the best part of the Luxe Box is its flexible and student friendly pricing plans. You can try it out for $12 a month and if you love the Luxe Box like we do, you can move up to either a 3 month plan ($36) or a yearly plan ($120). There are no additional shipping fees and three of the products we got in our box (the lotion, foundation primer, and Moroccan Oil) were large enough that they would last you multiple uses and are closer in size to travel size products than actual samples. Overall, I definitely recommend the Luxe Box for anyone that enjoys trying out different beauty products for a great price before committing to the product itself. It’s also great for shopping addicts like myself who never finish a product before their eye moves onto something else. Lastly, Loose Button is a Canadian company based out of Toronto- and who doesn’t love supporting Canadian companies?
