For all you ambitious collegiettes™ out there, who consider yourselves Cosmo’s number one reader and could use a little (scratch that – a lot) of spending money these days, consider being this: a Slumber Parties consultant!

If you’ve never been to a “slumber party” before, picture your Mom’s last Tupperware party or that Mary Kay or Lia Sophia party you went to a few years back at your neighbor’s.  Now, take away the charm bracelets, the themed sets of plastic bowls and Mom’s apron; set your iPod to Kelly Rowland’s “Motivation” on repeat, invite your sorority sisters over for the evening and, voila!  You’ve got yourself a real party!

Jessica Dante, a Marketing major and recent graduate of JMU, was a Slumber Parties consultant for the majority of her time as a Duke and still is today full-time.  Slumber Parties are a fun way to get together with girlfriends and buy products you’re usually too modest to purchase over-the-counter.  Overall, Jessica has sold almost $70,000 worth of sexy lingerie, edible lotions, bedroom accessories and even novelties and gifts to the ladies of JMU!

Being a consultant has given Jessica the amazing opportunity of being her own boss and learning valuable entrepreneur skills she can use all throughout her career.  Plus, she’s also been able to make some serious bank!  “While doing Slumber Parties part-time as a student, I was able to pay for three spring breaks, my study abroad semester in Belgium, and a four-week backpacking trip through Europe after graduation.” she says.

Consultants make a commission on everything they sell, which could be anywhere between $20-$100 an hour for four hours worth of parties a week!  It may seem like a lot, but take it from Jessica, who says she basically made her own schedule, always had time to study, and never missed out on a social event she wanted to go to using the excuse “I have to work.”  Extreme work flexibility – a busy collegiette’s™ best friend!
