I now declare this week as the week of singles (music singles, that is!).
More singles (songs that do not belong to albums) have been dropped since November 1st than they have been dropped in months. On that note, check out this awesome lineup of
(very) new songs:
1.) Where the Kids Are – Blondfire
If you only listen to one song for the next year, please let it be this one. Not to mention this song has the coolest music video ever (check it out on YouTube). Blondfire is composed of the brother-and-sister duo Bruce and Erica Driscoll. I am definitely keeping my eye for these two; I expect great things.
2.) Shove – Angels & Airwaves (Love, Pt. 1)
Anything sound familiar in this song? Could it maybe be the voice of lead singer Tom DeLonge from Blink-182? The band literally is a “superband” since it is made up members of Nine Inch Nails, 30 Seconds to Mars, Blink-182, and Over My Dead Body. And what happens when 4 already awesome bands come together? An
outstanding song is born.
3.) In the Morning – Jack Johnson
There would no such thing as a bad day is everyone woke up to this song. I mean, doesn’t everyday have beauty in it? Sometimes it’s so hard to remember that, so leave it Jack Johnson to remind you.
4.) Smart – Girl In a Coma (Exits & All the Rest)
These two sisters hail from San Antonio, Texas and are definitely in the process of reviving the early 2000s “rock” trends. It’s rare for a song to be both super chill and super energizing at the same time, but Girl In a Coma has the magic to pull it all together and make one great piece.
5.) Ambition (Feat. Meek Mills and Rick Ross) – Wale
Okay, this song is cool. And to be honest, I had no idea who Wale was until I stumbled upon this song that he just released. Call me a feminist, but the reason why I like this song so much is because it doesn’t objectify women the way most rap songs do just since the rapper “made it to the top.” Wale is a great newcomer to the game of big-league rap, don’t get me wrong, and this song really is awesome and a worthy member of this week’s lineup.
