Her Campus Purdue: You participate in Purdue’s Dance Marathon. What is your role?
Kelsey Malone: I am involved in the Greek Promotions committee, where I serve as a liaison between PUDM and the Greek community. I help keep the women of my sorority informed and involved in PUDM events throughout the semester. This year, we hosted a Riley family at the house for dinner and were able to spend time getting to know their family and how Riley has done amazing things for them. We also participate in a Greek Cup competition between the various sororities and fraternities involved with PUDM.

HC: Have you ever completed PUDM before?
KM: Yes! I completed PUDM as a Dancer my freshman and junior years and I am very excited to be even more involved during my senior year as a committee member.

HC: What is your favorite part of Dance Marathon?
KM: It’s hard to pick one single thing about Dance Marathon that is my favorite, but if I had to pick, it would be the sense of community and love shared by everyone who participates. There is always something fun to do while you are there and I love learning the morale dance every year! I also love to spend time with the Riley families that come to the marathon.

HC: What inspires you to participate as a Greek Relations Committee Member for PUDM?
KM:  I was so touched by the impact that PUDM makes on people’s lives that I wanted to step up my participation and give back to the organization.

HC: What would you say to Boilermakers who might be interested in participating in Dance Marathon in the future, whether it is being on a committee or actually participating in the 18-hour event?
KM:  I would say that they should stop by this year’s event as a visitor and see for themselves what a rewarding and fun experience it is!  18 hours may seem daunting to many, but seeing the total amount we raised at the end of the marathon makes the 18 hours completely worth it.
