Well, we’re over halfway done with the semester, so it’s about that time: we’re sick of our roommates, we’re sick of our evening activities and we’re sick of the boys. So, how better to reverse this mid-semester ennui than a spontaneous trip to Chicago? The bustling city is a mere 2.5 hours away, so Friday morning my friends and I decided to pack up and head for The Windy City and see what surprises await us college gals.
One day and a VERY hazy night of debauchery later, I am completely and utterly exhausted, and yet – pretty in love with this city. Despite the ridiculous Chicago traffic and apparently incompetent drivers (says the self-proclaimed road rage-r, so take that with a grain of salt), the city itself is clean and hoppin’ and glorious. It is notably absent of the crazies who populate the Madison-area, and the nightlife is insane. On first glance, the lines to get into the clubs are absurd – but upon closer inspection, however, it becomes quite clear that with some sweet-talking and eyelash-batting, any lady can cross those velvet ropes with considerable ease.
The clientele are remarkably normal and, dare I say it, cute. The guys in the club were super nice and very complimentary, which was quite a nice change of pace from the (usually) immature guys we encounter on campus. Topping the night off was a surprise visit from a popular DJ, at which point the club erupted into crazy applause and some hardcore dancing.
Fingers crossed night two brings the same kind of spontaneous fun and shockingly decent guys…Weekend Getaway: Chicago
