While Waltham is known for its vast array of restaurants, few students have the opportunity to explore the cuisine the area has to offer. Once students receive the privilege of car on campus, they often remain in “take-out mode” or stick to steadfast favorites and chains.
However, for those Collegiettes™ looking for something different, we scoped out some of the hot spots for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Watch City:
John Brewer’s Tavern
John’s Brewer’s is the perfect place if you are looking for a hearty meal. The colonial-style tavern features a large bar area, as well as a vast dining area. The burgers and sandwiches are always piled high with meat and other toppings. Make sure to try the buffalo wings. A double plate will feed two for a late lunch and fill you up for the rest of the day. The chicken is fresh and coated in sauce without the greasy, fried batter that can break a good wing. John Brewer’s also features meals that will remind you of home including meatloaf and turkey dinner.
The Ponzu
Ponzu is a cute little hole-in-the wall on Moody Street. Decorated in a modern, Asian style, the restaurant is an elegant, yet casual venue, perfect for a special occasion or “just because” even on a college kid’s budget. Ponzu specializes in sushi, with a wide array of traditional and specialty rolls that are absolutely delectable. The menu also features appetizers to supplement the sushi, completing anyone’s night out.
Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant
While Margarita’s domain has extended throughout the Greater Boston area, it remains a staple for Bentley Collegiettes™ looking for quality South of the Border fare. Beginning with complimentary tortilla chips and flavorful salsa, you will not leave here hungry. With a full stocked bar and unique signature drinks, such as the Icy Spicy Margarita, the 21+ crowd is bound to be pleased. Moving on to the dinner menu, all of Margarita’s specialties are made with fresh ingredients and packed with flavor. They are also very welcoming to customization for those who are a bit picky when it comes to their tacos or burritos. The menu features exotic fare, but also simpler Mexican staples for the less adventurous. Don’t forget about Wednesday college night – 2 for 1 dinners with an ID!
