For Trimaine Sheffield, every day is different.
The senior is usually busy balancing being a student with all of his extracurricular activities.
“My schedule is always busy. I wouldn’t have it any other way, though,” Sheffield said.
Sheffield currently holds executive board for several organizations, including serving as the treasurer for the Black Student Union. He is in charge of the budget for the very large student organization. Sheffield wouldn’t have it any other way.
“The Black Student Union is where I got my start. I would not have been as involved on campus if I did not see the opportunities that were out there,” Sheffield said.
Sheffield has an impressive resume. He is a former senator, former director of Black Student Assembly and was the Executive Director of Fashion X-Clusive 2011.
“I was a senator for two years,” Sheffield said, “It was an excellent experience working with other students on issues that would benefit the whole student population.”
All of Sheffield’s involvement did not happen instantly. He worked his way up.
“I didn’t start sitting on executive board, I was just a member. I showed dedication and worked hard for the organizations,” he said. “Eventually I earned the positions I wanted.”
Recently, Sheffield ran for Homecoming King. He made it to the top three.
When asked about the experience he said, “I didn’t win king but it was still one of my biggest accomplishments.”
Sheffield may look like the average student but he has accomplished more than most of his peers.  Even with his achievements, the English major remains humble.
He believes, “At the end of the day I’m just like everyone else.”
