Hey pre-collegiettes™!
Between clubs and sports, homecoming, and hanging out with friends on the weekend, high school can be a lot of fun. But with standardized tests, college applications, and tons of schoolwork, we know it can also be incredibly stressful, which is why we created the the Pre-Collegiette Blog. Every week, our four bloggers, all high school students just like you, will keep us posted on how they’re doing with the college application process, academics, and everything else going on in their lives. Let’s meet the bloggers:
Callie Orsini is currently on a gap year after graduating in 2011 from Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ. She applied and was accepted to colleges last year, but deferred her acceptance for a year in order to spend three months in Central America this fall and then work or intern in the spring. She loves to read, listen to music, and travel, and is a certified masseuse.
Jessica Maposa is a junior at St. Mark’s School, a boarding school in Southborough, MA. She has just recently begun the college process; despite worrying about taking the SAT and the ACT, she has been researching her list of schools for years. In her free time, she is a three-sport athlete and is involved in a host of school clubs, including the Gay/Straight Alliance and the newspaper, and is a tour guide for her school’s admissions office. She loves to read and runs her own book club.
Neha Ramani is a junior at West Lafayette High School in West Lafayette, IN. Having grown up in college towns her whole life, college has always been in the back of her mind. She has a draft list of schools she’d like to apply to next year. She participates in her school’s debate team, newspaper, yearbook, eco club, Spanish National Honor Society, Red Cross Club, and UNICEF Club. In her spare time, she likes to read fashion, food, and lifestyle blogs and watch Gossip Girl.
Alison Dunaway is a senior at Francis Howell High School in St. Louis, MO. She toured colleges all summer and is currently filling out applications. She is actively involved in her school’s yearbook, newspaper, and publications website. Outside of school, she is involved in journalism and social media. An avid animal lover, she volunteers at humane society, has enjoyed horseback riding since the age of six, maintains a strict vegetarian diet, and owns ten rescue cats.
Next time you’re up late writing college essays or studying for your Chem test, take a study break and browse the Pre-Collegiette Blog – after all, Callie, Jessica, Neha, and Allison are right there with you, every step of the way.
