The Wolfpack’s First Encounters of 2011-2012:
The Wolfpack is back in action and the beginning of Mark Gottfried’s career at NC State has begun. In the first game of the season, State seemed to be in control in the first half, building a lead of 17 points over UNC-Asheville. However, the Bulldogs brought their way back into the game, but the Wolfpack were able to hold on for a 9 point victory despite a low percentage shooting night.

The Pack seemed to learn from their mistakes and jitters in the opening game and was able to put the pedal to the metal when facing Morehead State. NC State shot over 60% from the floor and seemed to be able to dominate down low with Richard Howell and DeShawn Painter. With these two games in their back-pockets now, the Pack needs to continue their dominance down low, work on their three-point shooting (.333% through two games), continue sharing the ball around (averaging 24.5 assists per game) and they will only become better as time rolls on.

Upcoming Games and Forecast:
The Wolfpack will be staying home in the next week or two with games against Princeton on November 16th, #20 Vanderbilt on November 19th, Elon on November 25th, and Indiana on November 30th in the Big Ten/ACC challenge.

These will be the games that will show where the Wolfpack are, how far they can go, and how Mark Gottfried has changed this team and made it his own. The future could be bright for the Wolfpack and the buzz is all around campus and with fans. But time can only tell how far they will go and if they can make a push for the ACC and try to end their drought in the NCAA tournament.
