So far, the week before Thanksgiving break has definitely lived up to its reputation of being a “hell week.” Three tests and a paper all within five days of each other?!? No, thank you. However, more studying means more time spent on my computer which means more time finding new songs, listening to Pandora and using music as just an overall procrastination tool (and as an escape). On that note, I hope my procrastination has paid off by creating an awesome lineup for the week. Enjoy!
1.) Games You Play – Sugar Minott
CAUTION: GOOD VIBES LAY AHEAD. I have a confession: I love reggae. Maybe it’s just because I had a really good trip to Hawai’i once, but anything that gives me the calming island feel is great in my book. Sugar Minott is a Jamaican reggae singer and producer who definitely hit the mark with this song.
2.) The King and All of His Men – Wolf Gang
If you like MGMT, there’s a good chance you will like Wolf Gang. The band has toured with Florence And The Machine, Miike Snow, and Metric, and later went on to tour the U.K. (and selling out at London’s White Heat night.)
Even though the Europeans were the first to take notice in the band, Americans are quickly catching up and seeing what all the fuss is about.
3.) Go Far (Jupiter Mix) – J. Pinder
Even though I have no idea who J. Pinder actually is, I love what I am hearing with this song. “Go Far” has amazing instrumentals and the melody and lyrics are nothing short of astounding. No doubt, J. Pinder will “go far” with this song (pun intended).
4.) Get Yours While You Can – Anthony Green
Anthony Green is a big ball of energy ready to explode. The singer is currently the lead singer of Circa Survive, but has recently decided to try things out solo. High energy and with slightly bitter lyrics, this song will get you pumped up for just about anything.
5.) Fascinated (feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland) – FreeSol
I have surprised myself by liking this song as much as I do.
It’s maybe the awesome instrumentals, catchy beat, or the way they sing/ pronounce “fascinated” in the chorus, but somehow it all adds up to one cool song. I am not embarrassed to admit that I am (quietly) singing along to the lyrics right now in PJ’s. I’m entitled to shamelessly like one uber-cheesy song, right?
