TLC, once upon a time known as “The Learning Channel” has spent the past decade turning into “The Really-Creepy-Documentaries-on-Communities-That Exist-on-the-Fringe-of-Society Channel.” With shows like My Strange Addiction, Â I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant, Toddlers and Tiaras,
Sister Wives and Hoarders: Buried Alive, TLC producers have put themselves on the map with documentaries that that follow what one Blackbook blogger referred to as the “exploit people who are different formula.”Â
Their newest reality show: The Virgin Diaries, follows the lives of young couples who have taken extreme vows of abstinence for reasons that range, RadarOnline reports, from ” not by choice, for religious reasons, or just because.” Curious collegiettes™ can catch the 20-second promo on YouTube, which features a young couple that has waited until their wedding to share their first kiss. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing to wait until marriage to explore personal sexuality, TLC has taken their usual route and made the young couple’s choice seem bizarre, awkward and silly.Â
You can catch the premier of The Virgin Diaries on December 4th at 9:00 PM. What do you think  collegiettes™? Will you be tuning in or is this another invasive documentary that over-exploits its participants and under-educates its viewers?Â
