We’ve all experienced them. You know, those unfortunate situations that are sometimes embarrassing and awkward while they’re happening but fun to look back on a fews weeks later? Yes, those moments. Although you may still be blushing at the thought of your last “fail” or faux pas, these four ladies are past theirs and, just for fun, are willing to share.

Watch out for that…pole?

Lauren Fagan, freshman business major:
“Me and a bunch of my girlfriends decided to go out one Saturday night,” Fagan said. “While on our way to Route One, I asked my friend a question. She turned her head to answer me and as soon as she turned her head forward, she smacked straight into a pole. Head on. What’s worse is that she was completely sober. We all just started laughing since no one could deny what had clearly just happened. It was a pretty impressive fail.”

A sweaty situation

Delisha Thompson, sophomore government and Japanese double major:
“So a couple months ago, I had a doctor’s appointment and in order to get to there, I needed to catch the Marc train from Union Station,” Thompson said. “The 2:20 p.m. train. But the day of the appointment, I overslept and didn’t wake up until 1:30 p.m. So I zipped out of my room, rushed to College Park station and rode the train to Union Station. Once I got there, I literally ran from the entrance of the station all the way through to the area where my train would be. I didn’t feel as embarrassed running like a crazy person because there were a few latecomers running right along with me. What actually was embarrassing, though, was the fact that I was beginning to sweat. Bad. By the time I got into my train (I actually managed to catch it) I was drenched in sweat. I felt like sweat was pretty much pouring down my face. As I quickly found a seat in the corner, avoiding the uncomfortable stares, I thought to myself, “Whelp, I’m never going to oversleep again!”

Just when things couldn’t get any worse…

Alana Yzola, sophomore journalism major:
“I was extremely sick last month and it turned out I almost had a kidney infection,” Yzola said. “So before my chemistry class, I was in the library talking to my family on the phone and we were arguing about whether or not I should go to the class. Finally, I just decided I would go. On the way there, it was rainy and windy and it seemed like every time the wind blew, my umbrella flew up. Needless to say, that was annoying. Anyway, when I got to class, we were just about to take a class using clickers. But for some reason, my clicker wouldn’t work and I ended up not being able to take the quiz. When the class ended, I decided to see if it would work- and it did.  I just felt like, ‘Wow, this is seriously the story of my life.’ By the way, I got 0 points for that assignment. Yup. that’s my life.

Playing it cool

Simbiat Shodeinde, freshman business major:
“Earlier this semester, I was in McKeldin on the second floor studying at one of the tables that line the windows,” Shodeinde said. “My studying was going great until I had to get up to use the restroom. I was sitting in the inside of the long chair, closest to the window, so I had to squeeze past a couple of other girls who were also studying at the table. Just as I was almost out, I completely tripped over one of the metal bars of the chair and fell right to my knees. Even though I could feel heads turning to look at me, I quickly got up as though nothing had happened and made my way to the bathroom as if everything was all good. Inside, I was so embarrassed!”
