We all know that life at CMU is crazy busy. Most days, you’re choosing between that extra half hour of sleep or looking good. But, that doesn’t always have to be the case.  You have an 8 am class? No problem! Here are some tips for getting ready as fast as possible (you might even have time to finish that problem set!)

Tip #1:
Mascara is your best friend. It opens your eyes up and makes you look more awake. It has the biggest impact, so if there’s only time for one thing, there’s really no choice: pick mascara.

Tip #2:
Highlighter. Apply white eye shadow to the tops of your cheekbones using an upward stroke and then to the corners of eyes. These quick moves will lighten up your face and make you look fresh and awake—no one will ever know you were up all night writing your English paper.

Tip #3:
Cream blush is great because it’s easy and quick to apply. Blush adds great color to your face, especially since Pittsburgh has sucked all of the bronze out of our skin recently.

 Tip #4:
Pick up some shine spray for your hair. Most of us spend most of our getting ready time doing our hair—usually changing the texture of it. Embrace your natural texture for once and use a shine spray such as Garnier Triple Nutrition Nutrient Spray. It makes your hair healthier and shinier- what’s not to love?!

Tip #5:
If you don’t have time to shower dry shampoo is your best friend. It refreshes hair and makes it look like you just got out of the shower, even if that hasn’t actually happened for over 24 hours.

I am a junior Materials Science and Engineering mjaor at Carnegie Mellon University, and I am also minoring in Professional Writing and Business. I am a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.  I love TV and trying out new beauty products.  I follow E! on Twitter so that I can stay up-to-date on celebrity news.  I'm royal-obsessed, and I love Kate Middleton's style.  I'm kind of a Sephora addict, and I could easily spend hours there.  I also spend way too much time on Pinterest.  Finally, I love hockey and all Pittsburgh sports.
Julianne Grauel is a sophomore Professional Writing major at Carnegie Mellon University and is originally from the California Bay Area. At Carnegie Mellon she is a peer tutor for writing and an active sister in her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. This past summer, she interned at Gentry Magazine and hopes to work for a magazine after college. Julianne loves football, sushi, sunshine, and dance parties. She probably consumes far too much Red Mango froyo and can’t get enough of Project Runway. In her free time she likes to travel, watch sports center, take spinning classes and, most of all, shop.
