As we begin to prepare for finals, it is fairly noticeable how the weather has change for the worse since before Thanksgiving. One of the best things (besides snow, winter break and Christmas) about the weather getting cold is the music that comes with it. Christmas music has a homey feel to it and can give anyone a warm feeling.
We all grew up with the traditional songs sung by the same singers. In recent years, many artists, who we listen to now, have begun to make their own versions of these songs.
So, with the stressful days of studying for finals with us now, and the desire for it to be break already, a good way to relax and prepare for break is by listening to contemporary artists singing some old and some new songs for Christmas.

All I Want for Christmas – Mariah Carey
All I Want for Christmas is a peaceful song, fitting in perfectly with the upcoming holidays. Mariah Carey has great vocals in the song. Her vocals, the peaceful music, and the delight of Christmas, gives any listener a powerful feeling of happiness.
Â
Winter Wonderland – Jason Mraz
One of the most recent songs I’ve heard is Winter Wonderland sang by Jason Mraz. The song still gives you the feeling of snow outside but with a little twist. Mraz didn’t give up his unique way of singing that made us all love him.

The Christmas Song – Owl City
Like all other Christmas and holiday songs, there is a soothing feeling to this song. The song starts slow and steady before the music picks up the beat. Thesoothing vovals, with the mix of the new tempo, gives a contemporary feel of the upcoming holidays.
Â
Mistletoe – Justin Beiber
Justin Beiber has smooth vocals while singing. This song proves that Beiber has the talent to move out of his teenage songs and into more adult-like songs. The song has calm acoustic strumming behind his singing that fits perfectly into the Christmas season.
Â
Christmas Tree – Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga’s take on a Christmas song turned out to be interesting. The song is upbeat and fun to listen to with listeners wanting to get up and dance, but it still has the feel of a Lady Gaga. While listening to the lyrics, one can’t help but wonder if the song is provocative.

Relax, enjoy the music, good luck with finals, and have a Happy Holidays!
