Alec Baldwin Gets American Airline Apology on SNL…From Himself

On Wednesday, December 7th, a livid Alec Baldwin was thrown off a plane after refusing to shut off his phone and abandon his game of Words with Friends. Last Saturday night (live) Baldwin got the apology he deserved…from himself. Posing as the American Airlines
pilot who had him removed, Baldwin defended his actions – “playing a word game for smart people” – and poked fun at the airline industry’s persistence that all electronic devices be shut off before, during and after take off and landing.

This isn’t the first time that Baldwin has gone public to express his anger about the incident. A few hours after he was kicked to the runway curb, Baldwin tweeted: “Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt.” He has since deleted his twitter account.

Baldwin didn’t just tweet, he blogged too. Twice. According to Baldwin, he was singled out and bullied by an overly aggressive flight attendant, a situation that was perpetuated by the bankrupt and inconsiderate airline industry. You can check out the entirety of both his rants on The Huffington Post, where Baldwin chimes in regularly with his thoughts on current events and politics.

Perhaps American Airlines lives by the old adage “Blog about our company once, shame on us, mock us on national television, shame on you.” Since the skit aired two days ago, American Airlines has decided to pull Baldwin’s 30 Rock from its collection of in-flight entertainment. The Toronto Sun shared the following statement from the airline, “The APFA has requested that American Airlines remove the show from future flights, but would be agreeable to implementing it again if and only if Mr. Baldwin publicly apologizes to American Airlines flight attendants.”

You can check out the video from NBC below. What do you think collegiettes™? Was Alec’s spoof on himself and the airline all in good fun? Leave a comment and let us know!
