Finals season is here again, and for most of us that means stressing in the library, pouring over textbooks, researching papers, and finishing problem sets.  But at some universities the pressure is tenfold.  The Daily Beast composed a list of 2011’s most stressful colleges, where high student expectations leads to a more stressful environment.

The top 50 schools were selected based on cost, acceptance rate, competitiveness, crime rate and the engineering program-a typically rigorous major that tends to increase stress.

Columbia University in New York City was ranked as the number one most stressful school.  With tuition currently set at a steep $53, 874, Columbia has the second highest tuition of all the colleges ranked.  The university’s acceptance rate ranks seventh and so does its crime rate.  The private Ivy League is the fourth most competitive school on the list.

Also making the top 10 was Stanford, Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Chicago, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Vanderbilt University, Northwestern University, and Yale.

So collegiettes™, what do you think of this years rankings?  Is  your university just as stressful, but didn’t make the cut?  Let us know in the comment box below!
