As the importance of the Internet has risen, blogs, or “web logs,” have become an important, but sometimes overlooked part of the web. Some people blog just to have their thoughts read by others, while others have become more geared towards a certain topic. These topic-specific blogs serve as a great resource for inspiration or for information on just about any subject imaginable. Check out this list of some popular blog categories for tips on how to make the most of the content they provide, as well as some links to awesome blogs!

Beauty Blogs:
Beauty blogs have been popping up all over the web and serve as a free way to get awesome makeup and hair tips. Many of these beauty blogs have video tutorials to help explain some of the techniques used for hairstyles and makeup application.

The Beauty Department is a great beauty site run by Lauren Conrad, Kristen Ess and Amy Nadine. The site posts content ranging from everyday makeup and hair tips to Halloween and Holiday beauty tips. One of the coolest parts about this blog is that it now accepts articles from guest writers.  Readers can send in their pieces and they may just end up on the site!

Music:
The internet has made music sharing and discovery easier than ever, and music blogs are no exception. Many online newspapers have blogs dedicated to new and upcoming bands and musicians. There are music blogs for all types of music ranging from hip-hop to indie to death metal, so there is definitely something to suit everyone.

Hype Machine is a website devoted to spreading the word about music blogs of all kinds.  Although it is not a blog itself, Hype Machine pulls content from music blogs from all over the world and posts their content on its website, making it simple for users to find blog posts to suite their musical needs.

Do-It-Yourself Blogs:
DIY blogs are great tools for finding cheap and simple crafts. Some focus more on making knick-knacks while others have tutorials on how to make unique clothing and jewelry items from things you would find around your house. These blogs are great for college students on a budget because many of the projects can be made for only a few dollars (and many of the ideas make great gifts for friends).

I Spy DIY is a fashion DIY blog that has awesome lessons on how to make your own clothes and accessories. The site has DIY tips and tutorials on just about anything imaginable, from transforming your everyday heels into holiday shoes to instructions on how to make your own clutch.

How About Orange is another DIY blog that posts tutorials on make-it-yourself décor.  It is a great place to get inspiration for dorm room decorating without breaking the bank.

Healthy Living Blogs:
Many blogs are devoted to providing information on healthy living, exercise and weight loss.  Some are not as medically accurate as others, but the credible health blogs can be a great resource for tips on how to eat right and stay fit.

The Daily Spark
is a health and fitness blog run by Sparkpeople.com, an online weight loss and diet community. The Daily Spark posts content about a range of health and wellness issues, such as how to deal with stress or how to stay motivated while trying to lose weight.
