I don’t know about you, but this sounds like a match made in heaven.
The coolest part about aSociete is that it was created by a fellow collegiette™. Vanessa Gabriel, a sophomore at University of Colorado Boulder, got inspiration when she first started to explore the world of online retail during her freshman year. As most of you know, shopping at local boutiques or malls during these four glorious years is hard when you don’t have a car or public transportation to get you there. Though Vanessa got the online shopping bug quickly- and even used her aunt’s employee discount at Zappos- she was still searching for that perfect website that had super stylish clothes for a fraction of the price.
“I stumbled upon sites like Beyond the Rack and Gilt Groupe, which catered to my style but were still overpriced and catered to an older and more sophisticated market,” says Vanessa. “That’s how aSociete was born: with the purpose to serve college students everywhere by offering the luxury to shop online for their favorite brands while saving tons of money at the same time.”
What about the name? Believe it or not, the name aSociete represents our collegiette™ society.
“When I started to think about college students and our demographic, I started to realize that this demographic of the population is essentially a society of its own,” says Vanessa. “We are so different and unique compared to any other age group in the population. We grew up with technology, social media, etc., making it hard to relate to us if you’re not one of us. I truly wanted to create an online society exclusively for college students to be part of and to get the best deals around. The definitions of ‘a’ and ‘society’ go perfectly with our name as well.”
That’s pretty deep.
