Wednesday Happy Hour Roundup

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Penn chapter.

If you’re one of those sad people stuck on campus until Wednesday with a final at the last possible time slot, we know you’ll bust out of that lecture hall dying to celebrate. So here, just for you (over 21 year-olds, of course), is a list of the best happy hour specials at and around Penn to indulge in that day. Happy holidays!

At Penn
1. Mad Mex
From 4:30 to 6:30, get half off all draft beers or pay just $7 for a 20-ounce Big Azz Margarita.

2. City Tap House
Every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m, get half off the entire menu of craft beers, wines, martinis and cocktails, plus snacks for only $5. Starting at 6 p.m., they also provide live acoustic music.

3. Drinker’s West
Saving cash for Christmas shopping? Head to DW for 75-cent Miller High Life drafts, $2 Miller Lite Bottles, and $2 Three Olives mixed drinks. Yep, they’re called “WTF!? Wednesdays” for a reason.

4. Blarney Stone
You can guzzle Coors Light drafts or bottles for $2.50 all day, but the real deal starts at 9 p.m., when all doubles are on sale for just $5.

5. Smokey Joe’s
What would this list be without Penn’s favorite bar? From 3 to 6 p.m., get $2.50 drafts or split a $6.50 pitcher with your fellow revelers.

Near Penn
 1. Wrap Shack – 120 South 18th Street
It may look like any old sandwich shop, but this unassuming joint serves Captain Morgan pitchers on Wednesdays for $14.50, or a Lager draft and Jameson shot for $7.50. And from 5 to 7 p.m., the delicious wraps off their pub menu are half-priced.

2. Irish Pub – 2007 Walnut Street
Just across the Walnut Street bridge, get $2 pints of the restaurant’s home-brewed Irish Pub Lager or Stout – or any beer off their list of 20+ draughts.

3. Locust Rendezvous – 1415 Locust Street
This bar near Locust and Broad switches up their specials every week. From 11 a.m. until 2   a.m. every day this week, knock back $2 Budweiser cans, $3 Longtrail Ale Pints, or $2 ‘Strawberry Shortcake’ flavored vodka shots.

4. Helium Comedy Club – 2031 Sansom Street
Bud Lights are just $2 from 6 to 8 p.m. every Wednesday, but more importantly, buying any drink before 7 p.m. gets you a seat at that night’s comedy show. This week, funnyman Ahmed Ahmed will take the stage.

5. McGillin’s Olde Ale House – 1310 Drury Street
Wednesdays at this Irish tavern mean pitchers of Bud Light or PBR for $6.50, plus $2 pints of the featured micro-brew and $1 tacos. Build up some liquid courage and stick around for karaoke at 9 p.m.
