This blog, Truth Serum, will be about the ups and downs of love and life. We’ll discuss the moments every college girl has experienced at least once in her life. Whether it is falling for your best guy friend, holding on to an old flame or the fear of getting hurt, we have all been there at one point. You know, those moments in which we text our best friend and let it all out.

Truth is, when a guy is added into the equation, especially in college, our routine lives seem to be thrown out of whack.

As most girls enter college, we have this plan. The plan: receiving an education that will guide us towards our dream job, finding someone with whom to spend our life with and living a happy life filled with love and success.

The plan, however, always has a fall back. The fall back: if the relationship I put myself into for the future fails, I can continue on as a successful woman without the help of a man.

Let’s be real, how many of us actually think about this when we become interested in a guy?  None. Our parents would love for us to think that way, but realistically, a girl just hopes for the best and allows her emotions to get the best of her.

So what happens when you actually take that chance? What happens when you allow a guy to come into your life and then he interferes with the plan?

At what point do we realize that he may be interfering?

Countless girls come into college with the plan having a disclaimer: long distance relationship. As girls, we hope that the homebound relationship stays the same as when we go away for college. So what happens when our priorities become that person, and then our plan no longer focuses on us, but on them? As girls, we need to remember that college only comes around once.

Are we going to let our priorities be pushed aside for the sake of a relationship?

Truth is sometimes we need to take a step back, grasp onto reality and allow ourselves to remember the plan we set for ourselves.
