North Carolina Tar Heels vs. NC State Wolf pack Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCSU chapter.
It was the game that we thought we finally could beat UNC and show that the Wolf pack was back. This has been are best start in conference play and for the season in a lot of years, starting 4-1 in conference with dominating victories over ACC opponents and with a 15-5 record overall. Now we all knew that UNC was a good team, but this team seemed like our best team that had the most chemistry together; the upset could happen.

In the beginning of the game, we started out strong, keeping the game close mid-way through the 1st half. Then the Heels started to show their strength down low with Zeller, Henson, and Barnes and State just couldn’t seem to manage the game down low. Zeller ended up with 21 pts and 17 rebounds for the game and Henson blocked multiple shots down low in the paint. Scott Wood seemed like he couldn’t get on track either with his shot, going 0-3 in the first half and ending with only 11 points as the leading scorer. The Wolfpack was down by 14 points at half after a spectacular 80 foot heave from L. Brown. However, other than that, there wasn’t much else going in that night for the Wolf pack. They shot 36% from the field, going 21-57 and 9-20 from the three point line, while UNC shot 48% from the field. The lead got as big as 31 points in the second half, but ended only being a 19 point loss.

We all know that that team isn’t the team we have seen all year and that they are a much better team than what we saw last night and hopefully they will bounce back when they play against UVA this weekend. It is only one game but it kind of brought the reality back down a little bit for this team; however, we will see this team again and hopefully, with the Wolf pack faithful in the building, we can show that NC State isn’t who everyone thinks they are.
