What is your favorite part of UNI?
I love the size of UNI because it is big enough where it has a lot to offer with a variety of clubs, organizations, and curricular activities that fit each person’s interest. It is not the kind of university that is too big where you feel lost or like you don’t know a single soul you see on campus. I love the fact that I always see a familiar face no matter where I am on campus. It makes campus feel homey and it fits just right.

Why did you choose UNI?
I actually chose UNI because it had a great education program, I had a great tour guide when I first came, and I truly loved it the moment I heard about Campaniling and kissing someone at midnight—romantic!

What is your favorite college memory?
I would have to say my favorite college memory is when I found that great group of friends that had so much to offer and teach me about myself as well as about friendship and also about the good things in life. I have so much support from all of them and they are all so unique and bring such a great characteristic to the relationship we share.

What are your plans after UNI?
My plans after UNI is to student teach somewhere in Iowa or somewhere near Iowa and then head into a career of teaching young children. I am very excited for this chapter in my life and I cannot believe it is coming up so fast!

What activities are you involved with on campus?
I am involved with a few recreational activities on campus including a fun and exciting Palates class as well as BASIC that I attend on Thursday nights.

What is your dream job?
I would have to say my dream job would definitely have to be being an airplane pilot. In 8th grade we had a Home Ec. class where we chose a career out of a hat and then we had a whole list of information that followed of what we had to do for our career and I was a pilot. I read books like Amelia Earhart and she was such an inspiration for this fun school project.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I love being with friends, attending the palates class, relaxing and catching up on some much needed sleep and I especially love dancing. I could probably dance anywhere at anytime.

Any Inspiring quotes or sayings you like to life by?
I like to look at the upside of life because that is the only way to truly be happy. Accept things as they happen, what is meant to be will always find its way, take chances because it could be the best decision you’ve ever made, keep calm and carry on, be yourself and be proud of it and remember you only live once so make it extraordinary!

Any thing else you would like to tell Her Campus?
I think this is a great website with fun stories and great tips and I am honored to have been chosen for this week!!

Lottie is a junior at the University of Northern Iowa and she is a communications major with a journalism minor. She has always had a passion for fashion and writing, so she figured, why not combine them? She was a writer for Her Campus only one semester before becoming the Editor-in-chief and campus correspondent for fall of 2011. Lottie is very excited to take on the challenge and to make great things happen with Her Campus magazine.
