Although it feels as if we’ve all trudged through a long, harrowing winter here at Penn, the reality of it is, like most Philly natives like to tell me, we’ve had it easy this year. While those words are of very little comfort to a California girl like myself, I’ve found a couple of ways to spice this winter up. I proudly present to you my list of winter nail polish faves. And while it is true that my manicured hands are covered in gloves roughly 35% of the time, these nail shades seem to repel seasonal depression nonetheless.
1. Black
The author’s own trendy black polished nails.
I know, I know. When one thinks black nail polish, the word goth comes to mind. But hey, black nails really can work for anyone. I find them to be very sleek and especially fitting for the whole femme fatale look. And right, we all know that dark colors are nothing new for winter, so why not slap it on your nails? They go great with the gold jewelry that has been trendy lately.
If black just isn’t the color for you (or your nails), opt for a deep plum, or a rich navy blue.
2. Frosty Blues
I know that blue might not be the most championed of nail polish choices, but it’s a great seasonal novelty if you pick the right shade. Stick to the icy blues and mints for a wintery feel. If you want to jazz it up a bit, try some glitter for your top coat.
3. Gold
The fact that this color rhymes with cold isn’t the only reason why it makes my list complete. It goes with your jewelry and it adds a little glamour and lets face it, we all kind of need that. I mean, how posh is a big puffy jacket anyhow?
4. Nude
Now this one is kind of a throw in, because I think nude is great for any season. The trend has been seen on the runway and on the red carpet, so why not bring it to Locust Walk? It’s versatile, it’s neutral, it’s in. Need I say more?
Now that you have at your convenience a handy dandy list of nail polish shades for this winter, give it a try!
