If you don’t know Willie Muse then you should get to know him.  A senior here, Willie adds his humor to the College Voice with his witty articles – one of the latest is a review of the Oscar nominated movies.  Listen to Willie share the details about his life at Conn, his knowledge of pop-culture, and his hopes and dreams for the future.

1. How are you involved on campus?

It’s actually a little embarrassing how little I do extracurricularly, outside of writing for the voice. I like to think contribute to the Conn community by putting out a lot of good vibes though.

2. How did you get involved with writing for The College Voice?  What are your favorite kinds of articles to write?

I actually kinda got bullied into joining the voice by my friend Jazmine, who’s editor in chief this year. I’m glad she made me do it, though, because I’ve grown to really love it. My favorite articles to write are opinion pieces. I like being able to just talk about how I feel and be done with it, rather than having to deal with a bunch of facts which, frankly, hurt my brain a little.

3. If you had to choose, what is the best class you have taken at Conn?

I’d say my favorite class I’ve taken was Narrative Non-Fiction, with Blanche Boyd. Classes were just listening to Professor Boyd tell her stories, which are all super interesting, and for homework I basically just got to talk about myself, which was fun because I’m a narcissist.

4. What is your favorite movie and why?

I usually tell people my favorite movie is Pan’s Labyrinth, but my actual favorite movie is probably Hocus Pocus, starring Bette Midler as a witch. I loved it as a kid, and watching it now is like comfort food.

5. Do you have any plans after graduation? What is your dream job?

Currently, my plans for after college involve hoping that the Mayans are right and the world ends before I need to get a job. If I’m not so lucky, I’d love to write for a TV show someday. I’ve spent enough of my life positioned in front of a television, that it’d be nice to feel like that time was not wasted.

6. If you could be one celebrity, who would it be and why?

I would be Glenn Close…I think the reasons why are pretty obvious.

7. What's the most-played song on your iPod?

My most played song is called “Just Say When” by Kate Micucci, who played Ted’s girlfriend Gooch on Scrubs. It’s kind of embarrassing how emo the song is, but I love it.
