What to Watch on Netflix When You Stay in on Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

For two years now, I have been in a wonderful relationship. My significant other always tends to my immediate needs, provides emotional support, makes me laugh, and is consistently dependable.  As long as there’s an Internet connection.

No collegiettes™, I’m not talking about an eHarmony boo, or someone I met on Craigslist (ew?). I’m talking about the singular love of my life up until this point (besides, you know, my dog): My Netflix Instant Account.

This Valentine’s day, I’m planning a wonderful evening with Netflix. And you’re all invited! In fact, if you’re staying in, join me in working our way through some of the most romantic options Netflix Instant has to offer.

Never Been Kissed: Journey back to Drew Barrymore’s glory days in the late 90s with this high-school rom com. Never Been Kissed is a classic that tells the story of journalist Josie Geller, a former nerd who returns to school to write an expose on the very teens that kissed her. She gets a little hot for teacher along the way, but will Josie ever get to fall in love?

Charade: Looking for romance with a side dish of mystery and suspense? Look no further than Charade, an underrated Audrey Hepburn thriller that keeps viewers guessing the whole movie. As an added bonus, you get to stare at Cary Grant for 113 amazing minutes. Bring your tissues to catch your drool.

Tying the Knot: Take a moment to consider what love means to millions of people across America with this heartfelt documentary on the gay marriage in America. The award-winning documentary follows two gay couples and takes a closer look at the ongoing debate across the United States.

Hope Floats: Let’s be honest- can you even imagine romance movies without Sandra Bullock? She and Harry Connick Jr. make a gorgeous, deep-South couple in this charming movie about finding love after you’ve lost it.

An Affair to Remember: Bring those tissues back for another Cary Grant classic. This time, you’ll need them for your tears. An Affair to Remember tells the story of two star-crosses lovers- and it’s a must-see for any New Yorker. You’ll never look at the Empire State building the same again.
