Doing something new is never easy.  Too often, the fear or discomfort of doing something new holds us back and prevents us from moving forward.  But if you take that step forward, the question of “Well, is it worth it?” should no longer be difficult to answer. There are two mistakes people can make in life: not starting something and not going all the way.  Starting something new will only help you to grow!  I think new is good-it’s exciting and brings “life” to your life.  The best part about doing something new is it could  turn into something you will do for the rest of your life!  Scary or exhilarating?  A little of both I suppose.

A lot of new things are happening this semester.  How many of you have heard of “Her Campus?” Oh…wait, you are on our website so I’m assuming you all have.  Her Campus is “A Collegiette’s Guide to Life.”  We welcome all college women.  It’s something fresh on the Bryant Campus and I don’t think the group of us who put this together, especially those who have been here since the beginning, could be any more thrilled!!! As Alphonse de Lamartine (French poet) once said, “there is a woman at the beginning of all great things” and I mean, come on, we all know that is 100% completely true.  For us, starting something new is empowering, invigorating, and extremely special.

What does starting something new mean to you? Is it stressful?  A breath of fresh air?  Or a little of both?  Well it’s time.  Today.  Right now.  Start something new.  The time is now.  For no reason other than just getting out there and doing it.  Empower yourself!  Start off by “dreaming” about whatever it is you want to start. What a great feeling right?  Put that dream into the works, open up the door, and go!  Doing something new is never easy, but it’s completely worth it…and the time is now, so get out there and GO!

Jessica is a senior at Bryant University where she is majoring in management and double minoring in marketing and communication.  She holds the position as Editor-In-Chief of Her Campus Bryant and was actually one of the first founding members!  Beyond Her Campus Bryant, she is the Vice President of the Bryant Marketing Association and a MyPath Mentor.  She loves working at the Amica Center for Career Education where she manages their marketing and social media efforts but also enjoys her time at the Hassenfeld Institute for Public Leadership and the school's bookstore. When at home in Connecticut, she loves to watch movies with her family, play with her dog, have bonfires with friends, sleepovers with her sister, and scrapbook! Jessica aspires to one day manage her own department of a fortune 500 company, or even run her own company with a little bit of writing on the side!  Upon graduating this coming May, she will jump-start her career at EMC as a Marketing Development Associate in the Marketing Development Program.
Makena is a senior at Bryant University, studying International Business, Marketing and Spanish. In addition to co-founding Her Campus at Bryant, Makena is a published author, a peer mentor for Academic Programs International, works as a research assistant on campus, and is over-involved in general (and loving it). When she isn’t running frantically between classes, work and meetings, Makena enjoys travel, good Tex-Mex and getting lost in a great book.
