Spring break is almost here and for many collegiettes that means bikinis, boys, and beaches. My flight to Cancun leaves tomorrow… No, not really. I’ll be spending my spring break in the sleepy town of Montgomery, NY. There will be no sand, or sun, but I’m okay with that because it means I have entire week all to myself.
Remember those bikinis I mentioned earlier? Well I only remember the bagel smeared with cream cheese I ate for breakfast. Oh yeah, and the late night slice of pizza… or three. Just because you’re not lying out on a beach in Miami doesn’t mean your body can’t be bikini ready. So if you avoided the gym or hit the junk food too hard, use spring break to start fresh. Reaffirm good eating habits, or in my case, form good eating habits. Try a new workout plan, go for a jog, or like me, play Just Dance 3 for several hours a day. A week may not seem like a lot of time but eating well and exercising can give you the confidence and energy you need to get through the rest of the semester, and impress the cute guy in your 8 a.m.
So we’ve tackled our bikini bodies, now onto boys. That guy you hooked up with one night that you actually really liked but then he never called you back—forget about him. The guy from class who has been sending you mixed signals—put him out of your mind too. Think about the guys who do care about you, even if, like me, that means your dad and brothers. And if you’ve been crushing on someone all semester—use the break as a conversation starter and text him.
And finally, life’s a beach. Really though, it is, and the end of the semester is no exception. Take spring break to brace yourself for the up-coming workload. Personally, I will be reading the Hunger Games and eating ice cream out of the carton (after my bikini workout of course).
Let spring break be just that—a break. Try not to bog yourself down with extra work or boy drama. Just de-stress and do something you enjoy because you’ll be back to class before you know it.
