Everyone recognizes how awesome the Mizzou campus is. But for some reason a bunch of my favorite spots have eluded most collegiettes. Read on for a look at our campus’s best kept secrets, as well as a few spots around CoMo.

Hitt Street Market
If you haven’t been to this Mizzou Market yet, it’s time you go. Better than Southwest Market or the one in the Student Center, the Hitt Street Market features a much larger variety of food and drinks, a Subway and even hair dryers and a huge magazine collection. It’s kind of tucked away behind Defoe-Graham and Hawthorn. Another great feature: It’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Hospital Pharmacy
For those of you without a car, this pharmacy is a must know. It’s on the first floor of the University Hospital building and is a great alternative to the Walgreens on Broadway and other drug stores around town. It’s easy to get to by walking, and rumor has it it’s prices are cheaper, too. The best part about this secret? You can use student charge! Cha-ching!

Center Hall Study Room
This is by far my favorite place to study on campus. Center has a great computer lab with a ton of printers and a lot of comfy study desks. Plus, Mizzou Market is right down the hall. Bring some friends with you and take over a couch!

Coffee Zone
Tired of Starbucks and Kaldi’s? Check out Coffee Zone. Just north of Broadway on Ninth Street, Coffee Zone is a little Moroccan-inspired coffee shop that I have come to love. Not only is it a cozy place to get some studying done, but it’s also an excellent place to grab pita and hummus when you’re tired of the food on campus.

The Shack
This is my new favorite place to keep up with Mizzou hoops. If you’re not old enough for the bars and want a fun place to watch basketball with fellow Mizzou fans, head to the Shack inside the Student Center. The big screens on both sides of the room make it easy to watch from any table, and Mort’s burgers and fries are just around the corner. Come check it out during our next away game.

Southside Pizza and Pub
This great alternative to Shakepeare’s is located just five minutes south of campus at Providence and Nifong. It’s a fun atmosphere, complete with pool tables and a jukebox that my friends and I love to make playlists on.

West Campus
We have all seen the cute little houses on East Campus, but have you ever visited West Campus? The beautiful residential area on the other side of Providence is my favorite spot for a quick jog when I want to get off campus. Old trees and quaint homes make for a beautiful alternative to the cardio room at the Rec.

Lindsay Roseman is a senior at the University of Missouri, studying magazine journalism and Spanish. In Columbia, she is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta women's fraternity, Mizzou For Malawi Steering Committee, and can be spotted on campus touring potential Journalism School-ers. This Chicago native loves a good Jodi Picoult book, trying new foods, traveling, and hitting the pavement for a run. After reporting for the school newspaper and interning in her hometown, she spent the summer in NYC at Women's Health Magazine and now is so excited for a great year with HC Mizzou!
