Foundation with Sunscreen
With the sun staying out longer and longer, you have higher chances of getting UV light damage. Make sure you apply sunscreen to protect your delicate skin. A foundation with sunscreen gives you the coverage and the protection. Unlike winter, you do not have to pile a lot of foundation onto your face to look gorgeous. Tinted moisturizer and liquid foundation will work great in spring due to their thin consistency. They give you the cover you need without feeling cakey. This is especially true for tinted moisturizer: it gives you an extra boost of hydration so your skin feels plump!
Recommendation:
ELF Studio Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20Â $3.00 (Target)
Almay Line Smoothing Liquid Makeup SPF 15 $11.89 (Target)
Â
Concealer
If you’re confident about your skin, you can actually skip this step. Your skin looks different in different seasons. Your concealer for winter probably won’t work in the spring. Liquid concealer will give you the coverage without feeling heavy. Using concealers that have waterproof properties will work well in rainy and hot weather! Apply concealer after foundation so that the concealer won’t wipe away from your face J
Recommendation:
L’Oreal True Match Concealer $7.99 (Target)
Maybelline SuperStay Concealer $7.29 (Drugstore.com)
Â
Bronzer
Bronzer gives a 3D effect by shading your cheekbones, temple, forehead, nose, chin, and neck. Always bronze down your neck, so you don’t have an obvious difference between your face and neck. A correct shade of bronzer will give you a natural look. I choose to go 1 shade darker than my skin. Some people choose to go 2 shades darker, but it is your preference.
Recommendation:
Maybelline Fit Me Bronzer $4.49 (Target)
L’Oreal Glam Bronze Dual Pressed Bronzer $10.99 (Target)
Â
Eyeshadow
Use a pale base to give a little lighting. Use neutral eyeshadow and fade it inward to have a 3D effect. Put a little shimmer in the middle of the eyeshadow to give some definition. This will look natural yet girly. Just make sure you don’t put too much shimmer, or it will ruin the effect.
Recommendation: any neutral matte eyeshadow and shimmer

Eyeliner and Mascara
First year student Taylor told me that you should look natural. “No smoky eye,” she said, “ and no bright eyeshadow.” Using neutral eyeliner to draw a thin line would create natural and more awake eyes. Putting white eyeliner at the inner corners of your eyes will make it look more awake! Finish off with your favorite mascara to look gorgeous.
Recommendation:
Wet n Wild Eyeliner $0.99 (Drugstore.com)

Blush
Spring is the mating season. First year student Nhi says pink blush works really well for those who are looking for love! Pink is a very cute and shy color. It gives a very innocent touch to your face. Brush upward from cheek to temple; it will lift your face up. Make sure not to put too much blush on, or you will look like an edible apple! A barely visible color will look just fine. Remember, your cheek naturally has color.
Recommendation:
Physician’s Formula Mineral Glow Pearls Powder Palette Blush $10.95 (Drugstore.com)
Maybelline Dreamy Bouncy Blush $6.99 (Target)
Â
Lips
Rock out the red lipsticks in the spring! Since your eye makeup is very neutral, you should have something to show off to people. A matte red lipstick will look great on you! Try a colored lip butter to get the color and the hydration.
Recommendation:
L’Oreal Colour Riche Balm $5.99 (Target)
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter $6.49 (Target)

Skincare Tips: Green Tea and Cucumber!
Take care of you skin to look beautiful even without makeup! Spring should be carefree, so the less makeup you use, the better. First year student Gretchen says to put green tea bags on your eyes to reduce the puffiness. Nhi suggests using cucumber-related products. Both green tea and cucumber prevent early aging and wrinkles. I enjoy DIY skincare products like green tea/cucumber yogurt masks, green tea ice cubes, and green tea exfoliators. All are very hydrating and makes your skin very smooth!
Recommendation: St. Ives Herbal Ives Green tea scrubs $4.99 (Target)
Yes to Cucumbers products $5 – $15 (Target)

In the end, no matter what kind of makeup you use, beauty comes from within. Sleeping more, eating healthy, and exercising regularly are very important. Above all, stay positive! Have fun in spring. Good luck!
