It’s 1 A.M and you’ve just finished painting your nails a new spring shade you purchased earlier in the day. You feel your eyes closing, but fight it because you don’t want to risk ruining the nails you just spent hours painting. You blow on them for a few minutes, and then turn on The Soup:911 to make the drying time pass.

Thirty minutes have passed and you’re convinced your nails are dry. As a precaution, you sleep with your hands flat. Somehow you still manage waking up to smudged, lumpy nails.

Are you tired of spending hours slaving over your nails, only for them to smudge or chip within a couple of days? Take a break for your busy schedule, and treat yourself to a gel manicure. They last up to fourteen days and dry within minutes under a UV light.

Don’t know where to get a manicure in the city without spending more than $50? Here are few nails salons that offer gel manicures for under $50:

• Although a majority of the services are more than $50, La Dolce Vita Salon and Spa offers gel manicures for $35 and spa manicures for $40. La Dolce Vita is an eight minute T ride to 569 Boylston St.
• Salon De Beauty is a ten-minute walk from walk from campus to 330 Washington St. in Downtown Crossing. They offer single-colored gel manicures for $25 and multi-colored and French gel manicures for $30. They’re basic manicure is $11 and the spa manicure is $22. They offer a 15% discount on tanning packages for students with a valid ID.

• A trip to the nail salon can be the perfect way to escape from the city for a while. Nail Gallery in South Shore Plaza in Braintree offers a $25 special on gel manicures. It has a family-like atmosphere and the nail technicians aim to please you. South Shore Plaza is accessible by T and a perfect excuse to shop with wide-range of clothing stores.
