Let’s face it- it’s easy to get caught up in papers, projects, exams, and all of the stress that each semester holds. However, it’s important to remember to take care of yourself during this busy time. Otherwise, you could find yourself down for the count. I’m not talking about having expensive spa treatments done or blending up a bunch of random ingredients for a messy, gloppy facial mask—I’ve created a list of truly simple, fast spa treatments that you can do in your dorm, while staying relatively mess free.

For your tired eyes

We all know this one- tea bags are key to reducing redness or puffiness. Grab some chamomile, green, or black tea bags from Seasons and brew them. Then, store them in your refrigerator until they’re cool (please don’t burn your eyes!). All that’s left is for you to sit back, place the tea bags over your eyes, and relax for about 15 minutes.

Got static?

This is the solution we’ve all heard but have never dared to try—olive oil. Measure out about two tablespoons of it, and massage the oil into your hair (avoid your scalp if you have oily skin). Then, wrap your hair up in a towel, turban-style, for about half an hour. It might take a few shampoos to get all of the oil out afterwards, but the results are worth it- who doesn’t want shiny, happy, hair?

Honey, honey

Instead of whipping up some complex facial scrub with oatmeal, avocado, and heaven knows what else, all you need for a good moisture treatment is honey. Squeeze enough out of the jar to spread it across your face. Leave it on for about 15 minutes (and try your best not to eat any). Wash it off and apply moisturizer after—your face will thank you!

If you’re feeling adventurous…

How could I not include at least one slightly complicated recipe? This one is for a brown sugar body scrub. You’ll need half a cup of coarse brown sugar, a tablespoon of honey, a splash of olive oil, and a quarter tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix it all together, and then spread it all over your skin in the shower. I know from personal experience that this recipe smells delicious, and leaves only happy skin behind.
Whatever treatment you choose, let’s finish out the semester as happy and healthy collegiettes. How do you pamper yourself in your dorm room?
