This week was all about re-living out golden years in true 90s fashion. On Saturday night, the men’s lacrosse team threw yet another rager, but this time the theme was denim-on-denim-on-denim as everyone came out in their finest fashion faux pas from the 90s. From Clueless to Saved By the Bell, everyone embraced his or her own inner “Cher” and “Zach Morris” to make this night a truly spectacular throw-back to our innocent years, in a not so innocent fashion. With all of the excitement buzzing in the air, some took the opportunity to get jiggy on the dance floor with their puppy-love fully on display for all to see. I am not sure if some of the scrunchies were on a little too tight, but the girls certainly let it all hang lose, dancing the Tootsee Roll and singing their hearts out all night long. Not only were all of the usual suspects there, but there were a lot of mysterious faces as Alumnae and even some Wild Cats joined in. I was proud of the fellas for showing up in some classic 90s gear. Theses Fresh Princes wore their windbreakers, denim shirts, and best boy-band fitted tees with swag and for once the girls were not the only ones rocking the theme hard.
At one point it got so hot in the basement with all of the denim jackets and overalls that glittery-sweat showered over the party. A modern day Leo and Kate were seen dan-cing in the heart of the sweaty crowd that it was as if they were canoodling in a babbling brooke. Let’s just say that she wasn’t playing with his Tamagatchi as these two danced the night away. On the other side of the room, a scandalous sight was spotted as “Cory” was seen lip-locked with someone other than Topanga! You becker believe that these two were in the mood to “Spice up their lives” as they danced the night away incognito in their 90s outfits. Another couple was seen dancing with their bax against the wall, and lets just say they were not doing the Carlton. If this was a Christian dance we might have had to bring the ruler out on these two crazy kids. One girl decided to shake things up and sockett-to the boys by coming to the party with new golden locks. Her Baby-Spice inspired look was sure to confuse some of the guys, and I wonder if she found out that blonds really do have more fun?
The ‘updated’ 90s proved to be one of the best themes of the semester as we all got away with much more than Mary-Kate and Ashley ever did. With only a few weeks left of classes, I hope you are all getting ready for some even bigger parties with Haverfest just around the corner. Stay classy Haverford, and as always, watch out for those Fordifications or you could be next….
