That’s why we are excited to welcome Annie an anonymous student that is here to help you with anything you may need. Since I started school, I have not been going to the gym as often. I have been meaning to go but I always have reading to do or homework to do. I have noticed that my jeans fit tighter and my belly feels bigger. What can I do to make going to the gym a priority?

   It’s definitely a challenge to set aside time to head to the gym, especially for college kids. You’re not alone. But the easiest way to make the gym a priority is to just go. Sounds simple, right? It really is. You’re not going to go to the gym if you’re looking to fit it into your regular schedule. Instead, pick a time to go and build the rest of your schedule around it. A great way to do this is to work out with a gym buddy. That way, you’ll keep each other accountable. Need more motivation? Try taking some new classes at the SRC or working out differently. If you find something you truly enjoy doing – whether it’s weightlifting, running, or yoga – then you’re more likely to go because you’ll be enjoying the experience. Good luck and stay healthy!

I am having trouble keeping up with all my classes. I am taking four courses this quarter and I am afraid I won’t be able to keep up my grades. What should I do about it? Should I pull all nighters to pass the classes?

   While all-nighters seem like an inherent part of college, they’re not something you should rely on to get your work done. It’s better to be well-rested and at your mental best than struggling to get through the day and half-asleep! As the quarter progresses, take a look at what you’re specifically struggling with. If it’s a specific concept, set aside time to visit your TA or professor during their office hours. If you’re having trouble with study skills, the Academic Resource Center offers great workshops to help you learn how to study effectively, as well as quality tutoring services. My biggest recommendation: visit your professor. Contrary to popular belief, professors don’t want to see you fail and many are willing to work with you to understand how to better your performance in class. Don’t stress – instead, use the resources available to you.

Dear Annie,
I’ll get straight to the point here. I slept with my friend…who has a girlfriend. I don’t know how I feel about this because I don’t feel bad about it 100%. I know I am guilty but I don’t FEEL guilty. I think my friend wants to start an “affair” with me but he’s giving me all these mixed signals. What would you do? Especially if this was the best sex you’ve ever had.

Sex is awesome, but being the other woman is not. Think about your friend’s girlfriend. Would you want to be cheated on? You could be starting drama you really don’t need. Avoid drama by calling off the affair until your partner breaks it off with his girlfriend. If he’s unwilling to let that happen, then you need to call things off with him. It might be awesome sex, but will it be worth it when his girlfriend finds out?
