Short Hair Is The New Long Hair!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

One major trend I’ve noticed taking off this spring is short hairstyles- they’re everywhere! I recently decided to chop off my long locks for a short do, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Having long hair was at times overwhelming and often hid my face, but my new short length makes me look more mature, like a girl in her 20s (not to be mistaken for a 17-year old anymore). I’ve always been the girl with long hair, and I never imagined I could pull of a haircut like this, but having shoulder-length hair is both refreshing and surprisingly easy to style. Since my hair is curly, I was afraid to make the change, thinking that less length would mean more curl and therefore more frizz to manage, but with the right products a curly bob is perfectly doable. If you’re thinking about making the switch to short hair, take a cue from these young celebrities who are rocking the look!

Style tip: For those of you worried about cutting your curly hair short, use either of these products to tame frizz and accentuate your curls (I use DevaCurl, but Moroccanoil can be used on drier hair).

  • DevaCurl AnGEL: Light Hold Defining Gel ($17.95)
  • Moroccanoil: Curl Defining Cream ($31.99)
