Second year student Caroline Kay is traveling to Uganda and Ethiopia for a month this summer, integrating her love for God, children, and nursing.

Hometown? Nashville, Tennessee

What will you be doing in Uganda and Ethiopia? For the first 2 weeks, I will be doing orphan care with Amazina Ministries.  The woman behind the program sends over 400 kids to school and provides lunch and a bible study for them at her house on a regular basis.  Then I’ll be working with a mobile clinic that travels around Uganda.

What motivated you to go on this mission trip to do this kind of service work? In the 8th grade, my parents signed my brother and I up for an event called Displace Me, which is sponsored through Invisible Children, and the night consisted of being dropped off in the middle of a field, sleeping in cardboard boxes, eating saltines throughout the night, writing letters to the president, and praying.  Ever since that night, and after seeing the Invisible Children video, I knew I wanted to go on a mission trip, and this summer seems like the perfect time to fulfill that dream.

Quote or motto you live by? “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’  Matthew 25:31
